Working Age Adults

If you’re a newly qualified or experienced Social Worker, joining our Working Age Adults (WAA) service can offer you lots of opportunities to further your career and enhance your existing skillset. WAA is a multi-disciplinary service that caters for adults between the ages of 18 to 65+.

About Working Age Adults

Our Working Age Adults service was set up in 2021 and focuses on the aspirations of adults who are of working age and under 65 to reach their goals. This single service provides a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team that’s progressive and tailored to the needs and outcomes of the individual.

We’re proud that our WAA service is currently working with around 1000 adults in the local area, including approximately 740 younger adults with autism, a learning or physical disability.

Our vision for 2023/24 is to develop a progression model for younger adults to offer:

  • Equal access to education and employment

  • Increased independence (ideally via living at home within their community)

  • Development of skills to build and maintain positive relationships

  • More progressive, dynamic support and opportunities

Career development

Many of our Social Workers come to us straight out of university or qualify to become Social Workers while they’re with us. Either way we offer some of the best Continued Professional Development (CPD) available including funding for courses and time off to study. Whether it’s an in-house assessed and supported year in employment (ASYE), a masters or an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) post-graduate diploma – we’ll help you progress your career.

Our culture

Throughout our services we’re proud of the fact that we’re a tight knit team that welcomes people with passion and drive to get the best results in Adult Care.

We also understand that the health and wellbeing of our Social Workers is key, which is why we strive to make Milton Keynes Adults Services a place where our social workers want to stay, not just short but long term.
